What is an ATM?

ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine. ATM is a machine deployed by the corresponding Bank management at a convenient place for the bank Customers. ATM allows customers to perform Self-service bank transactions without the need for a Bank Teller or Representative.

There are many advantages of ATMs. ATM is available 24×7 to the customers( apart from downtime). There is no need for the customer to visit the home branch for banking. ATM transactions are fast compared to manual transactions at banks. Banks can reduce the bank staff and cut costs.

ATM System Components

An ATM is an interface between the Customer and the Bank. The ATM system consists of both hardware and software parts. The basic components of an ATM system are:

Hardware

• Input – Card reader, USB Input Keypad, RFID Scanner(Radio Frequency Identification)
• Output – Display Screen(Touch Screen can be both input and output device), Cash Dispenser, Printer, and Speaker.
• Safety Lock, Maintenance Switch

• Power Switches
• Panic alarm
• RFID access gate.
