Create a Story in Jira Software
Overview
This tutorial outlines steps to create a story in Jira software. An user story is an Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small and Testable(INVEST) end-user requirement. A story is a small increment of a business value slice that captures the description of the system capability from the end-user or the customer perspective.

Create a Story
Steps to create a Story in Jira:
- Launch Jira Software application.
- Click on the Create button.
When we click on the Create button, a new window will open. In the Create issue new window
- Select the Project in which you want to create a story.
- Select the Issue Type as Story.
Add the following details for the story:
Summary – Write a simple Story summary.
Story description – Stick to a story format and add it to the description text area.
Priority – Story priority or importance from the business perspective.
Epic link – If the story belong to an Epic. Link the story to the Epic.
and Sprint information.
Quickstart Wizard
We can also use Quickstart Wizard to create issues in Jira. Quickstart wizard is a handy tool for new users on board to quickly create issues.
Navigate to the project and click on Quickstart button in the right bottom corner to launch this tool.
