Introduction
This tutorial outlines the steps involved to create a Test Plan in TestLink tool. Test plans are the basis for test case execution in TestLink. We can create a Test Plan outlining how to test the application. We can assign or add test cases to the Test Plan and then execute the Test Plan.
Steps to create Project in TestLink:
https://www.testingdocs.com/creating-a-testlink-project/
We can either create a brand new Test plan or copy an existing Test Plan in TestLink tool.
Create a Test Plan
We can create the Test Plan for the project from the Test Plan management page. To know more about Test Plan management page: https://www.testingdocs.com/test-plan-management-in-testlink/
Steps to create the Test Plan are as follows:
Launch TestLink application.
Click on the Test Plan Management link. This will open the Test Plan management page.
Select the Test Project from the drop-down list in the top right hand corner.
Click on the Create button.
Create a Test Plan with the Test Plan details. Enter the following information:
- Test Plan Name
- Description,
- and the Active and Public check boxes.
Click on the Create button to create the Test Plan.
It is recommended that the description field be used to document links to project plans and related documentation, lists of features to be tested, risks, etc.
Create from existing Test Plan
We can also create a new test plan from an existing one. To get this option we need to have at least one test plan for the project.
Click on the Create button.
Enter Test Plan details.
To copy an existing Test plan select the Test plan from the Create from existing Test Plan? drop-down list.
The items that are copied include builds, test cases, priorities, milestones, and user roles.
That’s it. We have successfully created a Test Plan for the project in TestLink tool.
