Flowgorithm Expressions

Overview

Flowgorithm Expressions are built using operands and operators that
evaluates a value. An expression is a combination of operands, operators, literals, parentheses, and function calls used to evaluate a value. The flowchart interpreter evaluates the expression used in the symbols as the flowchart runs.

Flowgorithm Expressions

Expressions can be simple or complex. We can further categorize expression based on the operand and the operators. For example, an arithmetic expression uses numbers and arithmetic operators to evaluate the value.

We can use the Assign flowchart symbol to store the value of the expression into a variable. The Assign symbol evaluates the expression and stores the value into the variable. We can use the Output symbol to print the value of the expression to the Console window.

Simple Expression

Simple Expression contains a single literal or variable. For example,

interestRate = 0.15

Complex Expressions

A complex expression can contain multiple operands, operators, and parenthesis to compute the value.

arthExpr = ( 9 + 1 ) * 6 / 3

Programming language follows a set of precedence rules to evaluate the expression to avoid ambiguous results.
