How to create a recovery drive on Windows 10

Introduction

In this tutorial, we will learn how to create a recovery drive on Windows 10 operating system. In case of any hardware issues, recovery drive helps to reinstall the Windows 10 operating system. Its better to create a recovery drive after the first use.

Required: A new USB drive with >= 16 GB.

Create a Recovery drive

Insert the USB drive on to one of the USB slot.

In the Search box next to the Windows Start  button, search for Create a recovery drive and click on it.

Elevate on the UAC ( User Access Control) prompt. Click Yes on the prompt.

 

 

Backup System files

Select the USB drive and click on the Next button

 

 

Select Backup system files to the recovery drive. Click on the Next button.

 

Click on the Create button to create the drive. Everything on the USB drive will be deleted.

 

Once we click on create button, the system would create the recovery drive. Please be patient as the process might take a while. The system would back all the files to the recovery drive during this process.

 

 

Safe place

 

Once done with the creation of the recovery drive. Remove the USB drive and store it in a safe place.
