Two commands that help to view active network connections are:
\nifconfig and iwconfig.<\/p>\n

ifconfig<\/h3>\n

ifconfig displays the currently active network interfaces on the box. iwconfig is used to display wireless interfaces. Both commands are also used to configure a network interface.<\/p>\n

$ ifconfig<\/h3>\n

$ iwconfig<\/h3>\n

$ man iwconfig<\/h3>\n

If you are using a wireless adapter you can use iwconfig to view the wireless connections. eth0 is the dedicated network interface.<\/p>\n

Taking down and up<\/h3>\n

We can bring down and bring up a network connection using this command. For example, to bring down the connection, we can use the following command:<\/p>\n

$ ifconfig eth0 down<\/h3>\n

To bring up the network connection<\/p>\n

$ ifconfig eth0 up<\/h3>\n
