Report an Issue in Mantis Bug Tool

Overview

In this tutorial, we will learn the steps to report an issue in the Mantis Bug tracker tool web interface. A tester raises an issue or bug when the application is not working as intended. The actual result of the application under test does not match the expected result of the test case document.

Report an Issue

Launch the Mantis tool login page URL.

Bookmark the Login URL in the browser in case if you use the tool frequently.

Enter your tool credentials(username/password).

Choose the Project for the Issue.

Click on the Report Issue button.

Fill in the Issue Details

A bug report should be well understood by other members of the team. Developers, Managers, and other stakeholders should understand the issue and act accordingly.

Choose the Bug category, Severity, Priority.

Platform and Application version.

Bug Summary and Description.

Give detailed Test Steps to reproduce the bug, Expected, and Actual Results.

We may also provide supporting screenshots, logs, and attachments to the issue.

Cross-check and proofread the issue once so that it makes sense. Click on the Submit issue button to submit the issue.

Once you submit the issue the system allocates a unique id for the issue. Using this Bug id, we can track the progress of the bug. Share the bug to others and in email reports, etc.

Most of the time, the terms issue, bug, and defect are used interchangeably. However, there are subtle differences among the three terms. We will cover them in a separate topic.
