What is a Dependency?

A dependency is a logical relationship between tasks, activities or phases. Dependencies can be internal to the project or external to the project.

Types of Dependencies

There are four types of dependencies:

Finish to Start( FtS)
Start to Finish( FtF)
Start to Start( StS)
Finish to Finish ( FtF)

Finish to Start( FtS)

The Task A that the Task B depends on must finish before Task B can start.

Start to Finish( StF)

The Task A that the Task B depends on must start before Task B can finish.

Start to Start( StS)

The Task A that the Task B depends on must start before Task B can start.

Finish to Finish ( FtF)

The Task A that the Task B depends on must finish before Task B can finish.
