HTML Tags
In this tutorial, we will learn about different types of HTML tags. HTML uses various tags to structure the content on the webpage. Each tag serves a specific purpose, such as creating paragraphs or embedding images.
Types of HTML Tags
HTML tags are of two types. There are as follows:
- Paired Tag
- Unpaired Tag
Paired Tag
A tag is paired if the text is placed between a tag and its companion tag, i.e., a closing tag. In paired tags, the first tag is called an opening tag, and the second is called a closing tag.
Paired tags are also called:
- Non Singular
- Container
- Dependent
Unpaired Tag
An unpaired tag does not have a companion tag, i.e., it does not have an end tag or closing tag. These are also called singular or stand-alone tags.
Unpaired tags are called:
- Singular
- Standalone
- Independent
