Overview

Ubuntu is an open-source operating system based on Debian Linux. It is a community-based Linux distribution. Ubuntu has several editions that support various use cases and can run on personal laptops and cloud servers.

Ubuntu is a popular Linux distribution that uses the GNOME graphical desktop environment, which is the default desktop environment for Ubuntu. Another popular desktop environment is the Plasma Desktop from KDE.

Ubuntu Server is utilized for hosting application and database servers, and has built-in support for cloud platforms.

Ubuntu Cloud

Ubuntu Cloud is for cloud machines or cloud production clusters.

Ubuntu IoT

Ubuntu IoT is for IoT devices, home appliances, industrial systems, etc.

Edubuntu is a free education-oriented Ubuntu for kids.

Kubuntu is like Ubuntu but based on KDE. The operating system’s look and feel are mostly different from Plasma Desktop.
