Variable Naming Notations

Overview

In this tutorial, we will learn about different variable naming notations. Some of the notations are as follows:

camelCase

Camel case is a popular convention for naming variables. In this convention, the variable starts with a lowercase letter and any subsequent word begins with an uppercase letter.

For example, weeklyPay

PascalCase

Pascal case is a notation in which the first letter of the variable name is in uppercase. This notation is also called as upper camel case.

For example, SalariedEmployee

snake_case

Snake case notation in which the white spaces between the words are replaced with an underscore (_)
character. For example, hourly_wage

stringHungarian

Hungarian notation in which the variable’s data type is also part of the identifier name.  For example, stringFirstName.
