Download and Install XAMPP
This tutorial teaches you how to download and install XAMPP on Windows. XAMPP stands for X (which represents a cross-platform), Apache, MySQL (or MariaDB), PHP, and Perl.
XAMPP is the most popular PHP development environment developed by Apache Friends. It is a free, easy-to-install, cross-platform Apache distribution containing Apache HTTP Server, MariaDB, PHP, and Perl. The XAMPP open source package has been designed to be incredibly easy to install and use.
Download XAMPP
Open a web browser and navigate to the XAMPP website.
The XAMPP download URL is shown below. You can download the distribution from the URL:
Download the XAMPP installer for your operating system. Download the latest version of XAMPP from the above URL. Select your operating system, such as Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, etc., then download the corresponding installer to your machine.
This tutorial uses Windows. To download the Windows operating system installer, click on the Download button.
Install XAMPP
Locate the downloaded installer and click on it to install. Run the downloaded installer and follow the instructions.
Install XAMPP on your machine. If you have an antivirus installed or UAC activated ( User account control), follow these steps. Antivirus might slow down the installation process, and you may avoid the program files path if UAC is activated.
Select the components you want to install.
Select components such as Apache, MySQL, and PHP. Some components are selected by default, which is necessary for the stack.
Click on the Next button and choose the folder where you want to install XAMPP. Then click on the Next button to complete the installation process.
