Once the computer has finished booting up, the first thing we’ll see is the Windows desktop. Windows desktop is the main workspace for the computer. From here, we can view and manage files on the computer, open Windows software applications, play games, access the Internet, E-mail, chat with friends, and much more.

The look and feel of the Windows 7 desktop as shown below:

Windows is a multi-tasking GUI(Graphical User Interface) based operating system. Whenever we open a file, folder, or software application, it will appear in a new GUI window. We can open multiple items at the same time in different windows. We can open new windows, move and resize windows, and close windows when you’re done using them.
