What Is a Qi-Enabled Mobile Device?

A Qi-enabled mobile device is a smartphone that supports the Qi wireless charging standard.
This means you can charge the phone by placing it on a compatible wireless charging pad,
without plugging a cable directly into the device.

How Does Qi Wireless Charging Work?

Qi wireless charging works using electromagnetic induction:

  • A Qi charging pad is connected to a power source and contains a transmitter coil.
  • When you place a Qi-enabled phone on the pad, the pad creates an electromagnetic field.
  • The phone has a receiver coil that picks up this energy.
  • The energy is converted into electrical power to charge the battery.

For best results, the phone must be properly aligned on the charging pad,
and thick cases or metal objects should be removed.
