How to Enable Trusted Platform Module on VM

In this tutorial, we will learn the steps involved to Enable Trusted Platform Module(TPM) on a virtual machine using VMware Workstation. TPM provides enhance security features for the Windows machine.

We can enable Trusted Platform Module only if the Virtual Machine is encrypted. Steps to enable encryption on VM are listed here:

Enable TPM

Launch the VM.

Choose Edit virtual machine settings.

In the Hardware tab, click on Add button.

 

In the Add Hardware Wizard window screen, choose Trusted Platform Module and click on Finish button.

Once the TPM is added, we can verify it in the Hardware screen.

Verification

We can verify the TPM status in the MMC(Microsoft Management Console) as well. To view the TPM snap-in follow the below steps:

To open TPM Management Console,

Open the Run prompt window ( Windows Key + R )

Type  tpm.msc and click OK button.
