Overview
A URL ( Uniform Resource Locator) is a formatted string address of a resource on the Web. It is used by applications like web browsers, email clients, and other software to identify a network resource on the Internet.

Let’s understand the URL format with an example. For example, the address of the Google website is in the following format:
http://www.google.com
https://www.google.com
- http or https stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. ( s stands for secure)
- www stands for world wide web.
- google in the URL example stands for the domain name. The name of the company is Google. This can be any easy-to-remember name that allows users to type in the URL in the browser address bar
- .com is the type of domain.
