Install Kali Linux

Kali Linux is a powerful open-source operating system designed for penetration testing, ethical hacking, and cybersecurity research. Developed by Offensive Security, it comes pre-installed with numerous security tools, making it a preferred choice for security professionals and enthusiasts. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Kali Linux provides an extensive toolkit for testing and securing systems.

Steps to Install Kali Linux

Download Kali Linux ISO

To begin, visit the official Kali Linux website and download the latest ISO image. Ensure you choose the right version based on your system architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).

 

Create a Bootable USB Drive

Use software like Rufus (Windows) or Etcher (Mac/Linux) to create a bootable USB drive from the Kali Linux ISO. Insert a USB drive (at least 8GB), select the ISO file, and start the process.

Boot from the USB Drive
Restart your computer and access the BIOS/UEFI settings (by pressing F2, F12, Esc, or Del). Change the boot order to boot from the USB drive and save the settings.

Install

Once Kali Linux boots up, select the Graphical Install option. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your language, keyboard, and time zone.

Partition the Hard Drive

Choose either Guided – use entire disk for automatic partitioning or Manual for custom partitions. If you are dual-booting, ensure you select the correct partition.

Create a User Account

Set up a username and password for your Kali Linux system. This will be required for login and administrative tasks.

Install System Files

The installer will copy necessary files and install Kali Linux. This may take some time depending on your system’s speed. Install GRUB Bootloader. When prompted, choose to install GRUB bootloader on your primary hard drive. This allows Kali Linux to boot properly.

Once the installation is finished, remove the USB drive and restart your system. Kali Linux should now boot up successfully.
