The official website for Selenium 1.0 is seleniumhq.org.
Selenium runs in many browsers and operating systems and can be controlled by many programming languages and testing frameworks.
Selenium 1.0 suite consists of the following tools:
- Selenium Core
- Selenium IDE
- Selenium RC
- Selenium Grid
Selenium Core
Selenium Core is a test tool for web applications. Selenium Core tests run directly in a browser, just as real users do. And they run in browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc on platforms like Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. Selenium Core is written in Javascript so it should work on most browsers with Javascript support.
Selenium IDE
Selenium IDE is a Firefox add-on that records clicks, typing, and other actions to make a test, which you can play back in the browser.
Selenium RC
Selenium Remote Control (RC) runs your tests in multiple browsers and platforms. Selenium RC is a test tool that allows you to write automated web application UI tests in any programming language against any HTTP website using any mainstream JavaScript-enabled browser.
Selenium RC comes in two parts.
- A server that automatically launches and kills browsers, and acts as a HTTP proxy for web requests from them.
- Client libraries for your favorite computer language.
Selenium Grid
Selenium Grid extends Selenium RC to distribute your tests across multiple servers, saving you time by running tests in parallel.
