What is Requirement Traceability Matrix?
Overview
In this tutorial, let’s look at the definition of requirement traceability matrix on a high level.
Traceability Matrix
Requirements Traceability Matrix is a matrix that maps requirements to other artifacts like test cases.
It is important to have the traceability in both directions. The matrix should be able to map the requirements to test cases(forward traceability) and well as the test cases to requirements. ( backward traceability).
Importance
The main importance of RTM is to ensure that the requirements are covered and tested by the test cases. RTM easily lets us know if any requirements are not covered or tested. It is very important to test and cover all the requirements of the system during the testing phase.
