Risk Mitigation Efficiency
Overview
Risk Mitigation Efficiency metric is computed as the number of risks mitigated to the number of risks identified for mitigation. This metric gives insight into efficiency to mitigate risks in the software project.
Risk Mitigation Efficiency
The formula to compute risk mitigation efficiency is as follows:
RME expressed as percentage % =
(Risks identified for mitigation – Risks mitigated but occurred)
————————————————————————– * 100
(Risks identified for mitigation)
Example
Let’s understand the metric with an example. Consider a software project with 12 identified risks for mitigation. Two risks were mitigated, but they occurred during the project.
Calculate the RME.
Answer
Number of risks identified for mitigation = 12
Number of risks mitigated but occurred = 2
RME %
= (12 – 2/12)*100
= ( 10/12) * 100
= 83.34 %
This metric gives insight into efficiency to mitigate risks and take further actions.
