Types of Artificial Intelligence
AI can be broadly classified into the following types:
- Narrow (ANI or Weak AI)
- General AI (AGI)
- Super AI (ASI )
Narrow AI
Narrow AI( Artificial Narrow Intelligence ) is the most common type of AI today. These AI systems perform tasks like speech recognition, image recognition, etc. Examples of narrow AI include AI Assistants, Siri, Alexa, etc.
General AI
General AI (AGI—Artificial General Intelligence ) is an artificial intelligence that can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across various tasks, much like a human being. Unlike narrow AI, which is designed to perform specific tasks (like speech recognition, etc.), AGI could outperform humans at nearly every cognitive task.
Super AI
Super AI ( ASI – Artificial Superintelligence) is a hypothetical form of artificial intelligence that surpasses human intelligence across all fields, including creativity, general wisdom, and problem-solving capabilities. The concept of Super AI extends beyond the capabilities envisaged for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), aiming for a level of intelligence beyond human expertise.
